St Philip’s Church Centre
Dorridge, United Kingdom
Serving the parish of Dorridge and Bentley Heath in the West Midlands, UK, the new St Philip’s Church Centre building was opened in September 2021, following the demolition of the original Victorian buildings on the same site.
The congregation raised nearly £4.25 million for the new building, which has been designed to meet exacting environmental standards. It offers a range of facilities for the local community, including a main worship space with a capacity of 450, a sports hall and youth room, meeting and counselling spaces, a coffee lounge, and more. The main stained-glass window from the original church was preserved and installed in the new building.
St Philip’s has been lit throughout using energy-efficient Thorlux luminaires. Suspended Clara 720 luminaires light the main worship space and communal area, supported by wall-mounted Clara 180 uplighters. Ancillary areas are lit with ceiling-mounted Radiance luminaires and G3 downlights. IP66-rated, wall-mounted Cobalt luminaires provide perimeter lighting around the outside of the building, while LEX illuminated exit signs and Duo-Spot twin spots ensure essential emergency lighting coverage.
